About the Sigma Psi Zeta chapter

The founding principle of the Sigma Psi Zeta chapter was to foster an environment that was new and vibrant; one built upon a strong bond of sisterhood that upheld the ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. The primary mission of the Sigma Psi Zeta chapter is to promote, provide support, and aid various parts of Prince George’s County Maryland.

Sigma Psi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on December 4, 2002 in Fort Washington, Maryland by: Tara Anthony, Nedra Butler, Weldina Conde Lewis, Levette Jones, and Clarissa Lowe. Linked by a common vision to broaden the presence of Zeta in Prince George’s County, Sorors Conde Lewis and Lowe spearheaded the creation of a second graduate chapter in the southern region of the area.

The chapter was officially chartered and welcomed into the organization by Past Maryland State Director, Jacqueline McNair at her first state meeting. The first initiate of Sigma Psi Zeta was Aisha Hilliard and along with the charter members, Soror Hilliard was instrumental in the formation of the chapter.

Sigma Psi Zeta celebrated ten years of service in the Sorority while receiving many accolades and awards since its inception. The chapter remains a force in the community with numerous Z-HOPE and community service programs, ongoing partnerships with Larkin Chase Nursing Home, Lewisdale Elementary School and Carmody Hills Baptist Church. Sigma Psi Zeta continues to foster the national partnership with the March Dimes by raising funds through the annual Skate For Babies event and holding scholarship fundraisers for Prince George’s County teens.
